Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, Head of the Labour and Social Affairs’ Department in the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, is an attorney-at-law. A graduate of the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she pursued postgraduate studies in Public Law – DEA at the Sorbonne University – Paris I. For several years she was an official of the European institutions in Brussels, at the European Parliament, the Secretariat of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament and the European Commission. She has served as Member of the European Parliament (2004-2007) and of the Greek Parliament (2007-2012), Minister of Health (2009-2010) and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for European Affairs (2010-2012).
Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou has served as Minister of Administrative Reconstruction (2018 – 2019) in the government of Alexis Tsipras. She was elected Member of the Greek Parliament for the B1’North Sector of Athens Parliamentary Constituency with SYRIZA at the recent general elections and has been Parliamentary Spokesperson (2019-2020).
